Police say one suspect killed woman over domestic dispute

Police arrested two suspects involved in killing his sister-in-law and beating his father in two different cases in the limits of the new airport and Hazro police stations.

According to the SHO New Airport Police station Tahir Iqbal, the suspect identified as Rehmat Gull, a native of KP shot and killed his sister-in-law in Mohallah Saadat Colony over dome domestic dispute on March 19, 2023, and went underground.

Later he was declared a proclaimed offender by a local court of law in Fatehjang. Iqbal added that a team, acting on a tip raided his hideout and arrested him.

Moreover, a man was arrested for brutally torturing his elderly father over a monetary dispute in Syedan village in the limits of Hazro police station on Tuesday.

According to SHO Hazro police station Sultan Qammar, the victim Saif lodged an application that his son Muhammad Asif mercilessly tortured him and also threatened him of dire consequences for not giving him money.

He said that after a medical examination which has confirmed the torture, the accused was booked and arrested under the Parents Protection Ordinance 2021.

"Under the ordinance, beating parents is a punishable offense, with those found guilty may face a prison term up to one year or fine, or both." He added.

On the same day, six drug peddlers, including two females, were arrested in Wah Cantt during a major crackdown on the narcotics mafia.

Speaking to the media, Sub-Divisional Police Officer Taxila Circle ASP Kainat Azhar Khan said that the arrested suspects were involved in intercity drug-selling rackets and supplied narcotics to potential female customers as well as students.
