Literacy centres opened in prisons

DPO appreciated the step of the NCHD and jail to provide the education to prisoners

The National Commission for Human Development (NCHD), in collaboration of District Jail administration and Police Tahaffuz Markaz, established two Adult Literacy Centres at District Jail on Wednesday to educate inmates.

An inauguration ceremony was held at District Jail on Wednesday, in which Deputy Inspector General Jail Department Saeedullah Gondal participated as a chief guest and District Police Officer Sargodha Muhammad Faisal Kamran, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Muhammad Umar Farooq, Superintendent District Jail Muhammad Abu Bakr Abdullah, Sargodha NCHD Deputy Director Maher Umar Daraz Jhawari including other officers of NCHD and prisoners were also present.

Deputy Inspector General Jails Saeedullah Gondal said that the process of providing basic education to illiterate prisoners was being ensured so that the thinking of prisoners could be improved and they could be molded into upstanding citizens.

District Police Officer Faisal Kamran appreciated the step of the NCHD and district jail to provide the education to prisoners.
