Breaking barriers: SadaPay empowers Pakistani freelancers with access to Apple Pay and Google Pay

Freelancers can now receive global payments, overcoming traditional payment challenges.

 

Pakistan's freelancers have reached a historic milestone today. SadaPay, the fintech that launched a freelancer-focused business account (SadaBiz) earlier this year, now allows its users to accept Apple Pay payments.

The announcement came as part of SadaPay’s first ever SadaSummit held last Friday at COLABS. The event was attended by IT industry veterans, thought leaders in the freelancing ecosystem and early adopters of SadaBiz. The agenda also included panel discussions and fireside chats aimed at fostering Pakistan's future as a hub for global freelancing.

 

Apple Pay’s user base, at 550 million, has surpassed PayPal’s 450 million. The number of payments via Apple Pay is four times greater than those via PayPal, and it is growing exponentially.

The reach of Apple Pay is massive, with over two billion iPhones equipped with the technology worldwide. With SadaPay, Pakistan's freelancers and markets can now receive payments more conveniently and easily through a popular and trusted payment rail.

The company also announced that SadaBiz will accept payments via Google Pay, which has been gaining popularity globally as well. By stepping into the gap left by international payment companies, which have long ignored the Pakistani market, SadaPay has filled a long-felt need. With SadaPay, Pakistani freelancers can use Apple Pay or Google Pay on more than 700 million devices worldwide.

Another major revelation came from their brand-new initiative, SadaSchool. According to their CEO, Brandon Timinsky, this is a service to the Pakistani youth brimming with talent.

The free platform consists of Masterclasses that take you from beginner to expert as a freelancer and a Discord community built for peer support and mentorship. They’ve built a network of experts and thought leaders in the space, who host regular workshops to share their learnings on graphic design, copywriting, programming, and other high-income skills.

With SadaSchool, SadaPay’s goal is to enable Pakistan’s digital generation to make a significant mark on the global gig economy.

What does this mean for Pakistanis?

While Pakistan has burgeoning tech talent and a surge of freelancers, it has faced challenges getting paid from overseas clients. Due to PayPal's absence, freelancers and businesses have struggled to get paid internationally. Apple Pay, however, has changed the landscape.

For instance, freelancers from Lahore can now work with New York clients without having to switch between platforms and pay commissions and fees. The SadaBiz app allows you to generate and share a direct payment link with your clients via WhatsApp or email. In seconds, the client will click the link, select Apple Pay as the payment method, and verify the payment.
