ATC extends PTI leaders’ physical remand

Many PTI leaders were nominated in the case of attacking Police Station

LAHORE:

An anti-terrorism court (ATC) granted the 5-day physical remand of high-profile Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf leaders and Dr Yasmin Rashid, Ejaz Chaudhry and Mian Mehmoodur Rasheed to police in the case of torching Shadman Police Station, after the addition of new offences. ATC Judge Abher Gul Khan conducted the case proceedings on Thursday, wherein the accused were produced.

The investigation officer at Shadman Police Station submitted that new offences of mutiny, waging a war and others had been included in the case.

He submitted that custody of the accused was required for investigations in connection with new offences and pleaded with the court to grant physical remand of the accused.

The court accepted the request and granted a 5-day physical remand of the accused.

Many PTI leaders and workers were nominated in the case of attacking Shadman Police Station during violent riots on May 9. The case had been registered under sections of Ant-Terrorism Act.
