Large crowds thronged to the banks of the River Chenab near Head Marala for picnics during the Eid holidays. District authorities cleared off the crowds after the people began dumping wrappers and rubbish into the river. Several people were also booked for violating the ban on bathing in rivers and canals in the Sialkot district. Water levels have been was souring in the River Chenab due to on-going spells of heavy rains in the Sialkot region.
