LAHORE:

A man allegedly threw acid on his wife in Green Town on Tuesday, reportedly after the couple failed to reconcile over a dispute.

Zarina Bibi, a Tokay Wali Galli resident, was passing by a market when her husband, Nadeem and an accomplice identified as Kiran, allegedly captured her near Hafiz Chowk and hurled acid on her face.

The victim sustained burns across her body and was admitted to a hospital for treatment. The suspect, Nadeem, has been arrested. Police said that they were investigating the matter further. In March of this year, a woman was attacked with acid in Khurrianwala.

Mohammad Rizwan lodged a report with police alleging that Arshad and Nazia Bibi, armed with a pistol and a bottle of acid, attacked his sister, Farwa, at her home. The suspects broke into the home and threatened to kill Farwa unless she gave them gold ornaments. Out of fear, the victim handed the gold, but Nazia Bibi threw acid on Farwa’s right cheek and lips, severely injuring her.
