Sarah Majeed, writer of the new fan-favourite and hit drama serial Fairytale recently took to her X (formerly Twitter) profile to confirm that she is well on her way to finish writing the storyline for Fairytale 2.
The young writer shared this news in response to a question posed by one of her fans on the social media app. When a fan posted a query asking, “Did you finally finish writing #Fairytale2?” and tagged Sarah, she responded with a simple two-word reply: “Almost done”.
Fairytale first made its debut on television this past Ramadan, as part of the usual lineup of light-hearted content that plays in the background alongside the ongoing festivities and happenings of the holy month. However, this time around, viewers were forced to take more of a notice when Fairytale emerged as a unique entry in the long list of Ramadan romantic-comedy plays.
The protagonists of the drama serials Farjad and Umeed, essayed by Hamza Sohail and Sehar Khan, quickly captured the hearts of drama-goers across Pakistan with their relatable personalities and heartwarming journey to falling in love.
Popular for not using the usual harmful stereotypes and regressive tropes that have come to define Pakistani television, the different plotlines found in Fairytale really solidified its place in the hearts and mind of audiences eagerly waiting for fresh narratives to be depicted on screen.
After enjoying major success with high television ratings and being showered with love on social media, Fairytale was quickly picked up by its broadcasting network for a second season.
Fairytale 2 started airing recently with the first episode being released back in the beginning August. Currently, the second season is seven episodes in and is already being lauded for its strong characterization and interesting storyline.
