The Punjab Wildlife Department issued a hunting notification regarding migratory birds coming to Pakistan for food and breeding from colder regions until spring. Hunting has been allowed until March 31 next year and under the Punjab Wildlife Act, hunters will only be able to hunt on Saturdays and Sundays.
Every winter, thousands of migratory birds come from colder regions to Punjab’s reservoirs, lakes, rivers and streams where they breed. Simultaneously, these birds, including Talur, Conj, Bhagosh, Charu, Chiklu, Laal Sar, Banaroo, Little ducks and others, are hunted by locals during the winter.
