While the coordination committee said that Hussain will return home soon, reliable sources with the party said he had been discharged a couple of days ago and celebrated Eid at home.
Sources said he can be expected to address people via telephone in the next few days.

I wish speedy recovery to Mr. Altaf Hussain, as he is the only one to which his party members listen to him.
Sooner or later every one has to meet his creator but the question arises: what legacy Mr. Altaf Hussain will leave after him?
There is no proper hierarchy in any political party of Pakistan including MQM. If the Chief of the Party is not available to make on spot decision on any matter due to any reason whatsoever, then there is no other person, who can make decision on behalf of its chief?.
The prime fault in the political parties of Pakistan is that there is no democratic system within and elections are not held in the political parties to elect the office bearers. This provides an opportunity to the chief of the political party to take arbitrary decisions.
If a political party cannot induce democracy within its ranks, how it is possible that when a political party comes into power, it will be able to run the country democratically?
Despite the fact that after the introduction of internet, the world has become global village, but no political leader of Pakistan is interested to learn lessons from the renowned political parties of the world, as how they run their affairs effectively, efficiently and at the same time democratically.
It is unfortunate that in Pakistan the word “DEMOPCARCY’ is in several forms.
For instance without holding elections in their respective political parties, all chiefs of political parties in Pakistan talks about democracy, but any political party is power
Once a political party won majority of seats in national and provincial assemblies, its makes the government but do not take the other stake holders into confidence before making any major decisions in the country.
There are number of such examples which can be quoted, but I would like to restrict my comments due to shortage of space in these columns.
Very mysterious, some thing very fishy.
@Rafik Hassan: Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, London
this is not newsworthy....
@-Kazmis, Altaf Hussain got the disease of fighting for the rights of 98% powerless people of Pakistan. Does anyone have any objection & pain for this???
I want to send flowers. Which hospital is Altaf in?
Secondly, all media is totally aware of what is happening, but its still silent on this issue??
In which hospital he is in and what type of disease he is suffering from ?
What disease he got?
Err, right. Maybe he should try to "manifest" unity amongst leaders of his own nation first..
While we wish speedy recovery from whatever ails the MQM Supremo it should be noted with interest that he is very lucky to be benefitting from the UK's NHS Healthcare system which takes all necessary measures to ensure a human being's survival and good health. Unfortunately many of the victims of his party's activities had no such luck; they either died on the streets of Karachi begging for mercy or in hospitals which had very little to offer in terms of protection of life.
When a human being reaches the point where they have to be hospitalized and then they are lucky to survive it is a time for reflection and thankfulness to God Almighty. It is a time to realize how mortal we are and what a short life we have in this world. It should be a time for an indisputable leader like Altaf Husain to desist from building a personality cult and gear his followers toward following the one and only leader we have: Prophet (alaih assalaam) and our Lord Allah (ST). And while he has time on this earth he should dedicate himself to spread the message of Love and Mercy for all human beings regardless of their ethnicities, languages, and religions. That was the purpose and reason of Pakistan and that is the message the Muhajirs brought with them to Pakistan.
