In a significant step toward bolstering safety and security, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Inspector General of Police (IGP), Akhtar Hayat Gandapur, recently inaugurated a Command and Control Centre and an Ababeel Squad in Haripur.
On the occasion, IGP Akhtar highlighted substantial support for the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) in the wake of recent terrorist incidents, including the successful apprehension of a suicide bomber and the recovery of a staggering 400 kilogrammes of explosives in the Khyber region. Several terrorists were arrested in Khyber and Kurram districts as well, he added.
In his address to the media, he stressed the importance of both the public and private sectors collaborating to yield positive outcomes. While emphasising the inevitability of change, he underscored the need to adapt with the times, with a clear vision of progress always in sight.
While talking about the installation of an extensive network of CCTV cameras throughout Haripur, he explained, that it served a dual purpose of reducing crime and enhancing police efficiency to build robust cases against criminals, all while keeping communities well-informed. Solid evidence, he noted, forms the cornerstone of successful prosecutions.
