Express Entertainment's popular mini-series Gunah starring Sarmad Khoosat, Saba Qamar, and Rabia Butt is getting a prequel titled Inspector Sabiha, which will hit the air very soon.

The prequel will focus on the fan-favourite character of Inspector Sabiha as she fulfills her duties of a police officer and deals with dangerous cases of violence, crime, and mystery. Viewers of the previous installment in this expanding series can count on Sabiha to be just as passionate, honest, and morally steadfast in her approach to combatting lawbreakers and crime and helping justice prevail. “In search of justice, there’s no turning back,” reads the announcement poster of the new drama serial.

Model-turned-actor Rabia Butt will be reprising her role as the fierce policewoman facing criminals head-on and not backing down from her mission to fight crime and create a safer community.

Intended to be viewed as an origin story for Inspector Sabiha, audiences can expect the play to focus on the character’s journey to joining the police force, the motivations behind her decision to enter a typically male-dominated line of profession, and perhaps a deeper personal storyline for the policewoman outside of her work commitments.

As the actor essaying the titular role, Rabia took to her Instagram profile to share the poster for the drama serial, captioning the post: “In a first-of-its-kind prequel, Inspector Sabiha is coming to your screen soon. Here’s a sneak peak with our teaser poster. Prepare yourself for high-stakes action and heart-pounding suspense in this thrilling origin story. Stay tuned to @expresstv”.

The original mini-series Gunah had a total of six episodes that aired between June 15 and July 20, with the first episode and the last episode having garnered 2.4 M and 1.2 M views on Express Entertainment's official YouTube channel till now. Gunah touched upon sensitive topics like domestic violence and kidnapping and also explored other crimes like murder and fraud. Those awaiting the prequel can expect similar themes to be explored in parallel to a deeper exploration of Sabiha's character and life.

It remains to be seen whether the prequel will have the same lineup of six episodes or if the director and producers will opt for a greater number of episodes this time. A release date for the first episode is yet to be announced.
