Minister commends Malaysia’s growth

Reaffirms commitment to address international issues collaboratively

Caretaker Minister for Commerce, Industries and Production, Gohar Ejaz, on Tuesday, praised Malaysia’s outstanding economic growth, citing its impressive 6.5% annual Gross Domestic Product (GDP) expansion over the past half-century, resulting in a robust $400 billion economy. Ejaz expressed these sentiments as the chief guest at a ceremony commemorating Malaysia’s 66th national day and 90th armed forces day, hosted by the Malaysian Ambassador to Pakistan, Mohammad Azhar Mazlan.

The event, attended by diplomats, government officials, and representatives from both nations, provided a platform for the minister and ambassador to discuss the flourishing relations between Pakistan and Malaysia. They underscored the immense potential for cooperation across various sectors and reaffirmed their commitment to addressing international issues collaboratively.

Both leaders emphasised the need to boost bilateral trade volume, strengthening economic ties for the mutual benefit of their countries. They expressed eagerness for closer collaboration, contributing to the shared prosperity and development of both nations.

Ejaz noted that Pakistan’s economy had reached $330 billion through prudent strategies and highlighted the $1.6 billion trade volume between Pakistan and Malaysia. The envoy underscored the deep-rooted brotherly relations between the two countries and the historical ties that bind them.

In addition to their bilateral partnership, Pakistan and Malaysia share a common membership in the ASEAN region, presenting further opportunities for collaboration and regional engagement. Ambassador Mazlan also highlighted the presence of 5,000 Pakistani students studying in Malaysia, highlighting the potential for future collaboration in the education sector.
