RAWALPINDI:

Rawalpindi Cantonment Executive Officer Imran Gulzar took disciplinary action on Monday by suspending an overseer following accusations of issuing threats and verbally abusing elected board representatives and citizens.

According to a spokesperson, Rizwan Sultan faced allegations of misconduct during the cantonment board's weekly open court session. In the first incident, Sultan reportedly directed caustic remarks towards citizens who attended the weekly open court, which led to no immediate disciplinary measures against him.

Instead, he was assigned responsibilities related to the building control cell.

During a subsequent altercation in the office of RCB Assistant Secretary Muhammad Riyasat, Sultan allegedly verbally abused RCB Vice President Malik Muneer Ahmed and Member Rashid Khan, accompanied by threats of severe consequences.

Concerns were raised by Station Brigadier Salman Nazar, emphasising the second incident might have been prevented had action been taken after the incident.

Following a report sent to the MLC director general and station commander, Rizwan Sultan was initially suspended and observations were made regarding his transfer and disciplinary proceedings. He was subsequently transferred to the Bannu Cantonment Board.

A spokesperson said the incident garnered the highest-level of attention and a circular was issued to all branches.
