ISLAMABAD:

Provincial Minister for Primary and Secondary Health and Population Welfare Dr Jamal Nasir has emphasised the importance of recruiting officers and staff within the Department of Population Welfare who actively practice family planning.

He said he believed that this approach would enable them to serve as role models for the public.

Dr Jamal Nasir expressed these views during a seminar held at a local hotel in Islamabad. The event was attended by District Welfare Population Officer Shireen Sukhan, Rawalpindi Health Authority CEO Dr Ijaz, and other relevant officials.

The provincial minister pointed out that countries like Bangladesh and Iran serve as examples for Pakistan in the field of family planning. He stressed that through increased awareness and a positive mindset, the policies related to family planning and maternal and child health can be effectively implemented.

Dr Jamal Nasir acknowledged the pivotal role of scholars, educators, media, and civil society in disseminating the message of family planning. He highlighted the significance of maintaining a three-year gap between childbirths to ensure the well-being of both mother and child.
