Six terrorists killed, soldier martyred in two incidents
Six terrorists were killed while a security personnel was martyred in two separate incidents in Quetta and Peshawar on Friday.
In the Wali Tangi area of Quetta, at least three terrorists were killed and a security personnel martyred during an exchange of fire, the military's media wing said.
The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said armed terrorists had attacked the check post of security forces near the Wali Tangi area on Thursday evening.
“During the exchange of fire, three terrorists were sent to hell,” the statement added.
It said that Subedar Qaiser Raheem had embraced martyrdom while “fighting valiantly in the line of duty”, adding that one other soldier had been seriously injured.
“Security forces of Pakistan will continue to thwart the efforts of the enemies of peace and prosperity in the country,” the statement said.
Interim Interior Minister Sarfraz Bugti “strongly condemned the attack”, saying that the entire nation saluted the martyr.
Jan Achakzai, the caretaker Balochistan information minister, also condemned the attack on forces in the Wali Tangi area of Quetta.
"Security Forces have offered a lot of sacrifices to maintain peace in the province,” Achakzai said.
He added that the masses were standing with the security forces during their fight against terrorists and their facilitators.
The funeral prayer of Subedar Qaiser Rahim was later offered at the Quetta Garrison.
Balochistan Corps Commander Lieutenant General Asif Ghafoor and other senior military officials participated in the funeral prayer.

After the funeral prayer, the body of the martyr was sent to his native region, where the martyr would be buried with full military honours.
Separately in the Faqeerabad neighbourhood of Peshawar, three terrorists allegedly belonging to the banned outfit Da’esh were gunned down in an operation.
According to details, the Peshawar Counter Terrorism Department conducted an operation on a tip-off that a group of Da’esh was busy planning targeted killings and other attacks in Peshawar.
During the raid led by DSP operations near the Faqeerabad area of Peshawar, the terrorists opened fire at the police party. In retaliatory fire, the police officials killed three ISIS terrorists. The locality echoed with gunshots for up to 35 minutes, according to the residents of the area.
Weapons and ammunition were recovered from their possession.
After the firing ended, according to a statement issued by the CTD, the officials conducted a search operation and found three terrorists lying dead at different places.
From one terrorist, the police found a loaded Kalashnikov with three separate magazines and a hand grenade.
Similarly, from the second terrorist, the cops recovered a loaded Kalashnikov with seven magazines and a number hand grenades as well as flashlights.
The police seized a loaded Kalashnikov with five magazines and a hand grenade from the third terrorist.
All the recovered hand grenades were handed over to the Bomb Disposal Squad on the spot.
“Other five to six accomplices of the slain terrorists managed to escape by taking advantage of the landscape and the river bank.”
The bodies were sent to the hospital for post-mortem. Investigation was under way to identify the terrorists.
