‘Joint efforts a must for food security’

University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF) Vice Chancellor Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan on Thursday stressed the importance of global collaboration in addressing food security challenges and learn from each other’s experiences.

He made these remarks during the Afghanistan Agri Business Forum organised by IOFS and the University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF) at the UAF Auditorium. The VC acknowledged the growing pressure on land, water, and climate due to increasing population and the need for countries to learn from one another's experiences.

Speaking on the occasion, Islamic Organization for Food Security (IOFS) Director General Yerlan A Baidaulat highlighted the pressing issue of food insecurity facing several member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), with a special focus on Afghanistan.

He emphasised that Afghanistan, poised to become one of the most populous countries in the region in the coming decade, must urgently address its food security challenges.

Baidaulat underscored the global significance of food security, emphasising the critical role played by the IOFS.
