Governor slams govt for spending more on BISP
Balochistan Governor Malik Abdul Wali Khan Kakar has criticised the government for allocating a huge amount for the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP), suggesting that the amount should have been spent on the promotion of education and job-producing sectors in the country.
Speaking at a seminar held for launching ‘Strategy Plan’ on the occasion of the International Literacy Day, Kakar said that no society and country could be developed without education and the government should provide maximum funds and opportunities for the promotion of education in the country for making Pakistan a developed and prosperous country in the world.
The seminar was organised by the Social Welfare,
Literacy and Non-formal Education Department as well as the Education Parliamentarians Caucus of the Senate.
Balochistan Assembly Speaker Mir Jan Muhammad Khan Jamali, Interim Home Minister Mir Zubair Jamali, of Parliamentary Caucus of Senate Chairperson Senator Sana Jamali, Senator Fauzia Arshad, Adviser to the Chief Minister on Social Welfare and Women Development Shania Khan and others also spoke at the seminar.
Governor Kakar was of the view that instead of making people habitual of charity through distribution of a few thousand rupees, the government should spend the funds on establishing job-oriented institutions.
