Directives issued to prevent spread of dengue fever

Need to launch a public awareness campaign regarding dengue prevention stressed

KARACHI:

Commissioner Karachi, Muhammad Saleem Rajput, has taken notice of rising cases of dengue fever across all districts in the city and issued strict directives to all the deputy commissioners to collaborate with the health department, dengue control programme, vector-borne diseases teams, and other relevant agencies to initiate disinfectant spraying campaign immediately targeting larval breeding sites.

Additionally, he emphasised the need to launch a public awareness campaign regarding dengue prevention.

During a meeting chaired by the commissioner at the deputy commissioner east office, it was reported that spraying operations have already commenced in the district.

Rajput also issued directives to develop a schedule for these activities and communicate it to the relevant parties.

The meeting concluded with a decision to extend the spraying campaign to cover areas such as rivers, nurseries, tyre shops, and other locations where water accumulates.

The commissioner also discussed a range of other civic concerns with the deputy commissioners.

He also directed the DCs to take proactive measures to control prices, curb hoarding, discourage encroachments, address traffic challenges, and combat street crimes within their respective districts.

Furthermore, he stressed the need to enhance the efficiency of public service departments to provide better assistance to citizens and promptly resolve their complaints.
