Video of two-year-old child standing by parents’ bodies goes viral

ISLAMABAD:

In a heart-wrenching incident, armed suspects shot dead a man and his wife in broad daylight in Sector I-11 of the federal capital on Saturday.

A video of the incident, showing the couple’s two-year-old child – who miraculously remained unscathed and kept standing next to the bodies of his parents after the attack – went viral on social media.

According to sources, the armed assailants targeted the victims as they arrived for shopping. As a result of the firing, the couple died on the spot while their two-year-old child remained unharmed.

The video shows the child standing by the bodies of his parents with a feeder in his hands. The victims were identified as Rehana Sardar and Zafar Iqbal.

The suspects fled after carrying out the attack. The Subzi Mandi police reached the spot and started an investigation.

According to a spokesperson for the Islamabad police, the victims were killed by their relatives over a personal dispute.

“The accused have been identified and raids are being conducted to arrest them,” the spokesperson said. “The two-year-old child was taken away by the relatives of the victims,” he added. “The incident is under investigation and a case will be registered soon.”
