The people and Government of Pakistan have expressed their profound condolences and unwavering support for the Kingdom of Morocco in the aftermath of a devastating earthquake that struck the country, leaving a trail of destruction and loss of life.
The earthquake, measuring a magnitude of 6.8, struck central Morocco, resulting in a tragic loss of lives, injuries, and extensive damage to infrastructure. According to Moroccan state media, the earthquake has claimed at least 820 lives and left 672 individuals injured.
In a press statement issued on Saturday, Mumtaz Zahra Baloch, the Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, announced Pakistan's solidarity with Morocco and extended heartfelt sympathies. She also revealed that Pakistan had offered its assistance to Morocco during this difficult time.

The Pakistan Embassy in Rabat has been proactive in reaching out to the Pakistani community residing in Morocco to ensure their safety. Initial reports indicate that all Pakistani nationals are safe, but the embassy will continue to closely monitor the situation and provide support as necessary.
Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar expressed his deep grief over the loss of lives caused by the earthquake in Morocco. He conveyed his condolences to the government and people of Morocco and offered all possible support to those affected by the disaster.
Taking to X, formerly Twitter, Prime Minister Kakar posted a heartfelt message, saying, "Our hearts ache for those affected by the severe earthquake in Morocco. Pakistan extends its hand in unity and support to Morocco in this trying time."

President Dr Arif Alvi also expressed his sorrow over the loss of precious lives and infrastructure damage in central Morocco. He extended condolences to the bereaved families and reiterated Pakistan's unwavering support for Morocco during this challenging period. President Alvi offered prayers for the swift recovery of the injured and the affected communities.
Caretaker Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Murtaza Solangi, reached out to the Moroccan Ambassador to Pakistan, Muhammad Karmoune, to convey his condolences and sympathy for the earthquake's victims.
Solangi emphasised that Pakistan stands in solidarity with Morocco and assured that the Pakistani nation and government are fully committed to supporting the earthquake victims. He also pledged Pakistan's assistance, including medical facilities, to help Morocco cope with the aftermath of the disaster.
Solangi stated, "Pakistan will not leave the people of Morocco alone in this time of need," and he prayed for the eternal peace of the earthquake victims and the speedy recovery of the injured.
The heartfelt expressions of solidarity and offers of assistance from Pakistan serve as a testament to the strong bonds between nations during times of adversity.
