I’m Nawal, not Naimal: Nawal Saeed on being mistaken for Hamza Ali Abbasi’s wife

In a talk show segment, actor recalled a comical encounter

In a world of doppelgangers and celebrity look-alikes, Pakistani television actor Nawal Saeed seems to be one having fallen prey to the conundrum as well. However, for Nawal, what started off as a rather sweet encounter with a possible fan quickly turned into a comical moment of disappointment when she was mistaken for Hamza Ali Abbasi’s wife, Naimal.

The Aik Larki Aam Si actor sat down with Tabish Hashmi in a talk show appearance for the host’s popular show, Hasna Mana Hai. In an episode filled with bellowing laughter, Hashmi asked Nawal about run-ins with fans, presuming that the actor had the affection of a large audience due to many films and television drama serials she had appeared in.

In response, Saeed mentioned an encounter where she was mistaken for Naimal Khawar at an airport. She narrated, “there was this aunty, and she came up to me and praised me a lot, said ‘I like you so much, I’ve seen so much of your work,’ and then after a good five minutes she said, ‘it was a wish of mine to meet Hamza’s wife.”

The Faryaad actor, tickled by the encounter, revealed that she had to rather embarrassingly correct the fan; “mein Nawal hoon, mein Naimal nahi hoon.” The actor concluded that the fan was left rather disenchanted by the reveal, joking that the woman probably thought her time had been wasted in praise of who she had evidently hoped to meet.
