Police recover three abductees in Kashmore

KARACHI:

Police on Tuesday claimed to have recovered three abductees in Kashmore.

Speaking to the media, SSP Kashmore Amjad Shaikh said that the police recovered abductees, Mukhi Jagdesh Kumar, Jaideep and Dr Muneer Naich, in an operation in kutcha area near Ghelpur.

The SSP also promised the recovery of other hostages from bandit gangs involved in rampant lawlessness in Kashmore and adjoining districts.

He said that heavily armed bandits had kidnapped medical superintendent of WAPDA Hospital Guddu, Dr Munir Ahmad Naich, from his private clinic.

According to eye witnesses, Dr Naich was abducted by four armed men who came on motorcycles when he was sitting at his clinic.

The kidnappers held all the staff and patients present in the clinic hostage. However, they only took away the superintendent with them.

People in the area and adjoining districts have demanded a military operation in kutcha area pointing out worsening law and order situation.

Protest

Meanwhile, Sindh Human Rights Commission (SHRC), Board Member, Sukhdev Hemnani, took part in a protest held in the town, organised against the alarming rise in kidnapping of members of the native Hindu community within the district.

Addressing the gathering, Hemnani expressed the commission's unwavering support for the affected families.

He shared insights into the commission's efforts to secure the release of the abducted people.

Hemnani also mentioned that the SHRC has consistently raised concerns about the law and order situation in Kandhkot-Kashmore district.

He personally visited the district last month following an attack on a temple near Ghouspur by dacoits.

During meetings with the families of victims and those who were recovered, Hemnani assured them that the SHRC would continue engaging with relevant authorities in line with its mandate.

Meanwhile, various political, social, and civil society groups organised sit-ins in several cities, including Matli and Tando Bago to show solidarity with the protestors in Kashmor against abduction of people.

At the forefront of the sit-in in front of the Badin Press Club were the leaders incoluding Advocate Amir Azad Phanur, the Central Vice President of the Sindh United Party; Azizullah Dero, District President of Tehreek-e-Insaf; Prof. Abdullah Malah, a prominent civil society leader; Mohammad Khan Sumo; Abdul Razzaq Sumro from the Mirza Group; Rashid Gopang representing the Qaumi Awami Party; Hyder Shah of the SUP, and others.

During this demonstration, attendees voiced their concern on the prevailing unrest in Sindh, the influence of criminal elements, and those aiding them. They demanded the immediate recovery of the abducted hostages and the arrest of the individuals involved in their kidnapping.
