ECP gives go ahead to Sindh bureaucratic reshuffle

The Election Commission has granted its approval for administrative changes proposed by the caretaker provincial government of Sindh ahead of the upcoming general elections.

Khadim Hussain Rind has been appointed as the new Additional Inspector General of Police (AIG) Karachi.

Nevertheless, the list faced rejections, notably six departmental secretaries and three deputy commissioners, while others were incorporated. This overhaul impacts 13 departmental secretaries, six divisional commissioners, the Karachi police chief, and eight DIGs, 31 SSPs and SPs, heads of institutions, and deputy commissioners across 27 districts.

Notably, the names of secretaries for six departments, encompassing finance, interior ministry, education, irrigation, food, and forest, were not endorsed. Similarly, the proposed deputy commissioners for Karachi central, Korangi, and Matiari were not approved.

In an official correspondence addressed to the Chief Secretary of Sindh, the approved transfers include significant figures such as Shakeel Ahmed, Chairman of the Planning and Development Board; Zahid Ali Abbasi, Senior Member of the Board of Revenue; Manzoor Ahmed, ACS Local Government and HTP Department; Sadaf Anees Sheikh, Secretary of the College Education Department; Shahab Qamar Ansari, Secretary of I&C; Fayyaz Hussain Abbasi, Secretary of the Energy Department; Umar Farooq, Secretary of Human Settlement; Bilal Ahmed Memon, Principal Secretary to the Governor of Sindh, among others.

Additionally, appointments for deputy commissioners have been determined, including Junaid Iqbal Khan as DC Keamari, Captain (r) Altaf Hussain as DC south, Ahmed Ali Siddiqui as DC west, Altaf Hussain Sheikh as DC east, and Captain (r) Muhammad Saeed Leghari as DC Malir. Numerous other appointments have been confirmed across various districts and divisions of Sindh.
