A Khyber Pakhtunkhwa PML-N MPA proposed tax on having more than two children, on Monday.

Proceedings in the Khyber Pakhtunkhawa Assembly took an interesting turn on Monday after the proposal of imposing tax on the birth of more than two children.

The proposal was made by PML-N MPA Javed Abbassi, who said that a tax should be imposed on assembly members and secretaries who have more than two children.

JUI's Mufti Kifayat ullah termed the proposal as anti-Islamic and senior Provincial Minister Bashir Bilour argued that legislation is needed to impose such tax. He said that such legislation exists in China to control the population.

Today its this, tomorrow it'll be to eat two times, sleep half a night etc etc, they are making life more miserable. Being that said aside, while these politicians cannot do anything concrete, its easy to copy the theory from others.

Who care about scavenger kids, the kids that polish other shows and live miserable life. Alas! for the lack of rational culture in Pakistan. Those who opposes better study Mufti Abduh, Rashid Riza, Sir Sayid Ahmad Khan.

The Master | 14 years ago | Reply See if this bill will pass , as my few friends in above thread mention that this idea is good in order to curb the tendency of having more than 2 kids by unemployed men those are living in villages. So don't we think we are sending all those people who are poor that kill or bury their kids alive if they have more than 2 kids, if a people can kill their kids even after the age of 5 years when one person already developed love to the kids than they will definitely kill their new born in order to avoid taxes.I think people wherever they are may be in villages they should be properly educated about family planning so that they can themselves decide and use precautions. A ridiculous discussion by KP Assemble which is highly condemned.

Tanzeel | 14 years ago | Reply If the bill approves, opposition members and secretaries would opt the religious idea of keeping four wives to born two kids from each i.e 4x2=8. When there's a will there a way, Mullahs are unstoppable!

meena | 14 years ago | Reply well i think its a very goiod idea because in villages if one house has 4 men...unemplyed u can see minimum 16-20 kids there and that causes poverty as well as population...so i am with it.

The Master | 14 years ago | Reply Although I am in the favor of having 2 or fewer kids, but it is matter of shame for the people sitting in Assemblies that they want to interfere with matters which are in between couple. This type of noble ideas from assemblies are likely to pop up in future as well, as you can't expect any good from Illiterate and Bogus assembly members which are unfortunately selected by our nation.If our higher ops really want to control the growth they must make some plan and educate masses for having less kids.The so called minister of population Dr Firdos Ashiq Awan is doing what , just come on Talk shows and giving lame excuses for ill doings of her govt. More serious approach is required for addressing this problem , our people are very shy , these people to be approched by well trained health workers so that they should be told that what methods to be adopted for population control rather than imposing tax on kids.

Abhigyan | 14 years ago | Reply The decision may be anti-Islamic but is certainly sensible. With only two children, the parents have better opportunity to educate them, feed them and dress them. What's the point of having 10 kids when you cannot afford to educate them. Ofcourse this also means less pressure on natural resources, Govt. has more money to spend on wellfare of poor as per person spend would be increase even if the total expenditure remains constant. There will less pressure on social amenities as well. Teachers can pay more attentions to students. Overall in my opinion it is a worth while proposition.

Humna | 14 years ago | Reply OH WOW... just because we have something similar in a neighboring country dosn't mean we should implement it right over! Insane! Why not take head from the ageing populace of western countries to get the brain cells developing? But nah... that would put them against the big brothers supporting their every stupid political venture. China has a population unaware of family related emotions. Kids in China do not know what it is like to have a brother, sister, aunt or uncle. All greatness lies with their weird policy of allowing single child birth. With a little development of allowing a duo in our part of the world, we are doing no less harm. Governments have no right to implement laws killing personal choices! The PML-N leader needs an appoinment with a psychiatrist.
