Acting on the directives of its director general, the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) sealed illegal commercial buildings including a plaza and six shops on Gulraiz Road, its spokesperson said on Thursday.
He said an operation was initiated in light of the directives of RDA DG Muhammad Saif Anwar Jappa against unauthorised/illegal commercial buildings during which one office of Sagheer and Qadeer Associates, one plaza and six shops were sealed on Gulraiz Road near Iqra School and Capital Cash and Carry, Rawalpindi.
“The enforcement squad including the deputy director of building control, in-charge / assistant director of building control, building inspectors and others with the assistance of the local police carried out the operation under Section 39 of the Punjab Development of Cities (PDC) Act 1976 against illegal commercial construction and sealed the above mentioned commercial building,” the spokesperson said.
The RDA spokesperson added that previously, notices were issued to the owners of the property namely Ansar, Riasat, Liaqat, Waqas and Safeer.
“The owners of the above-mentioned sealed properties violated approved plans/maps and violated the PDC Act 1976 and RDA Building and Zoning Regulations 2020 and constructed illegal commercial buildings without approval and NOCs”.
The spokesperson said the DG has directed the land use and building control (LU&BC) wing to take strict action against encroachments, illegal constructions and commercial activities.
He added that Jappa has also directed the building control wing to survey fees for approval of illegal residential and commercial buildings, commercialisation, complementary maps, plans of buildings and regularise all illegal residential cum commercial buildings in the controlled area of RDA.
