DERA GHAZI KHAN:

A shocking incident of double murder took place in Nawan Shumali within the limits of the Choti Police Station.

A couple was killed allegedly by their two sons, a grandson and an accomplice of theirs over an alleged land dispute, police said.

A few days ago, the deceased, Khuda Bakhsh Hijana, had allegedly filed an application against four accused, including his son Jameel Ahmed, saying that the accused wanted to kill him, but no action was taken by the police.

Police arrested the accused. The SHO of Choti Police Station was called by a doctor at the Rural Health Centre (RHC) at 2:15 a.m. and told him that a woman had been in a critical condition.

Choti Police immediately reached the RHC where they saw the body of Sughran Bibi, 65, wife of Khuda Bakhsh. She had died of gunshot wounds. Khuda Bakhsh’s son Muhammad Jameel (one of the accused) told the police that his father had also been shot at, and he had been lying in the house.

When police reached the spot, they found that Khuda Bakhsh, too, had died of gunshot wounds.

As soon as information about the double-murder incident was received by police, the DSP/SDPO of Circle Kot Chattha, Muhammad Arshad, along with the members of the crime scene unit, reached the spot and interrogated people of the nearby area.

Police said that it emerged even during the initial investigations that Karim Bakhsh and Jameel, sons of the slain couple, and Asim had been involved in the crime.
