KHANEWAL:

The district administration booked six junk dealers over the illegal purchase and sale of hazardous hospital waste and issued notices to over a dozen private hospitals over violating waste management law.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Waseem Hamid Sindhu, while chairing a meeting of the waste management committee on Thursday, ordered the health and environmental protection departments to expedite action against elements involved in practices that could cause harm to human health.

Sindhu ordered that elements involved in circulating hospital waste should be dealt with iron hands.

EPD Assistant Director Sarfraz Anjum announced that two incinerators were operational in the district to destroy dangerous waste. The meeting was attended by EPD officials, health and livestock department staff, PMA officials and representatives of private incinerators.
