Abbasi doctors protest against non-payment of salaries
Doctors at Abbasi Shaheed Hospital on Tuesday took to the streets in protest over non-payment of salaries.
The affected doctors gathered at Abbasi Shaheed Hospital to voice their discontent, holding placards and banners to underscore their dissatisfaction with the hospital authorities.
The medical professionals blamed the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) and the hospital administration for not paying their salaries.
The sprawling Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, a key facility within Karachi's District Central, finds itself entangled once again in financial strife. House officers in the hospital have endured five months without pay.
In a notable stance of protest, these affected doctors resolved to boycott the Outpatient Departments (OPDs), although other hospital departments continue to function.
The protesting doctors assert that they have endured a five-month salary drought, subsisting on mere verbal assurances.
While the customary monthly salary for house officers in Sindh stands at Rs69,000, and postgraduates command Rs100,000, the KMC initially pledged Rs45,000 for house officers and Rs75,000 for postgraduates, as stipulated in their offer letters.
