In a historic moment on Sunday, Arshad Nadeem etched his name in Pakistani sporting history as he secured his nation's first-ever medal at the World Athletics Championship held in Budapest, Hungary. Displaying exceptional prowess, Arshad achieved a remarkable feat with a best throw of 87.82 meters in the javelin event.

The accomplishment garnered widespread acclaim, prompting Pakistani celebrities to express their admiration and congratulations on social media platforms. Hira Mani, in her Instagram Story, penned heartfelt words, stating, "You have won the hearts of all Pakistanis." Salman Saquib, also known as Mani, shared his pride, saying, "Silver medal in world athletics - the first-ever Pakistani to earn a silver medal, any medal. Pride of Pakistan." Sami Khan, in his message, added, "MashAllah."

Renowned sisters Mawra and Urwa Hocane extended their well wishes to the silver medalist on Twitter. Urwa conveyed her admiration, saying, "Congratulations, Arshad Nadeem, on winning silver at the World Athletics Championship 2023! An inspiration for a nation that has lost all spirit and hopes to rise above the ugly political situation and excel at everything on our own to achieve for one’s self and the country!" Mawra furthered the sentiment, exclaiming, "Silver is coming home. Arshad Nadeem, Pakistan is proud of you!" Notable personality Nadia Jamil called for a standing ovation in honour of Arshad's extraordinary achievement.

The gold medal was claimed by India's Neeraj Chopra, whose remarkable throw measured an impressive 88.17 meters. At the commencement of the competition, Arshad encountered a shaky start, his initial throw reaching a distance of 74.80 meters. However, he swiftly rebounded, showcasing his determination and skill by achieving a noteworthy distance of 82.81 meters in his second attempt.

The pivotal moment of Arshad's performance occurred during his third throw, where he achieved a monumental breakthrough, propelling the javelin an impressive 87.82 meters - a testament to his dedication and hard work throughout the season.

Although his fifth attempt fell short of breaching the 80-meter mark, he concluded his performance with a final throw of 81.86 meters in his sixth and last endeavour. His outstanding performance not only earned him a historic silver medal but also instilled a renewed sense of pride and hope within Pakistan.
