RDA seals ‘illegal’ commercial building

On the directives of the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) Director General Saif Anwar Jappa, the enforcement squad carried out an operation against illegal commercial construction and sealed a building located on Kallar Syedan Road opposite to PSO petrol pump in Moza Panjgran, Rawalpindi, a spokesperson said.

The spokesperson said that the enforcement squad comprising the building control deputy director, building control assistant director, building inspectors and others with the assistance of the Rawat police team carried out the operation under Section 39 of the Punjab Development of Cities (PDC) Act 1976 against the illegal commercial constructions.

The RDA spokesperson said prior notices were sent to the property owners named Munir and Jumma Khan. He said the owners had violated approved building plans, contravening both the PDC Act 1976 and RDA Building and Zoning Regulations 2020. The owners had proceeded to construct an illicit commercial building without obtaining the necessary approvals.

He further said the RDA DG has directed the Land Use and Building Control (LU&BC) Wing to take strict action against encroachments.
