KARACHI:

The K-Electric (K-E) in reaction to the attack on its staff at Timber Market, strongly condemned the incident and said that the company has a right to take a legal action against those responsible.

The spokesperson emphasised, “While we understand the public concerns about increasing electricity prices, it’s crucial to recognise that mistreating company employees, evading bill payments, and resorting to violence are unacceptable regardless of the situation.” The incident at Timber Market involved K-Electric staff attempting to disconnect the power supply of defaulters.

Expressing concern, the spokesperson decried the actions of the Timber Market representatives for detaining and causing harm to K-Electric staff members. The company actively collaborates with law enforcement agencies and retains the right to take appropriate measures within legal boundaries.

Clarifying further, the spokesperson said, “The electricity system in Pakistan operates under regulation, with the authority to determine electricity rates resting with NEPRA and the Ministry of Energy. K-Electric’s financial performance is tied to its investment and operations, and it doesn’t profit from rate hikes or influence rate fluctuations and taxes.
