Police nab suspect for circulating counterfeit money

HARIPUR:

At least two persons were killed in Haripur in separate incidents on Thursday.

According to a spokesperson for the police, a youth ended his life by shooting himself in the head.

A resident of Roshanabad neighbourhood, Haishi Khan Muhammad, reportedly took his own life but the reasons behind his decision remain undisclosed.

Meanwhile, a tragic car crash on GT Road claimed the life of an 8-year-old boy named Zain.

Following the incidents, rescue and police officials transported the bodies to the hospital for autopsy.

The police spokesperson also said cases have been registered, and a comprehensive investigation is underway to uncover the details surrounding the incidents.

In a separate incident, the Haripur City police apprehended an accused for engaging in the circulation of counterfeit money within the city.

Following a successful operation, law enforcement personnel managed to seize counterfeit currency amounting to thousands of rupees from his possession.

It has been revealed that he was actively involved in this illicit activity within the city. The police have hinted at the possibility of additional arrests as their investigation progresses.

A significant robbery incident unfolded near Sirikot, where the perpetrators held multiple individuals at gunpoint, forcibly taking their belongings.

On the other hand, three young individuals en route from Sirikot to Ghazi were robbed by armed suspects on Thursday. During this robbery incident, the robbers snatched cash, a mobile phone, and a motorcycle from the victims.

Following the crime, all four robbers managed to flee the scene initially. However, a swift response from the Ghazi police led to the subsequent apprehension of all four suspects.

Sources said setting up checkpoints at various locations, law enforcement cordoned off the area, successfully capturing the suspects and recovering the stolen items from their possession.
