RAWALPINDI:

Taking action against the traders who disregarded the red notices issued to them for failing to install firefighting equipment at their respective workplaces, the Civil Defence Department issued 78 challans while sealing 23 petrol pumps, CNG stations, factories, furniture and acid shops on Thursday.

According to sources, the cases were sent to the magistrate court for imposition of heavy fines.

On the other hand, it was decided to launch operations in other tehsils of the Rawalpindi district, including Gujar Khan, Kotli Sattian, Kahuta, Kallar Syedan and Taxila from the next week.

Civil Defence District Officer Talib Hussain told The Express Tribune that the weather was very hot and there were chances of fire breakouts in factories due to short circuits of electricity and burning cigarettes.

“Instructions have been given to install fire extinguishers immediately,” he said.
