Yet another policeman was gunned down in Tank district of Khyber-Pakhuntkhwa (K-P) on Wednesday in broad daylight.
Constable Riaz Gul was deployed for bank security in the jurisdiction of City Police Station when two unidentified terrorists opened fire on him, killing him on the spot. A passerby Ziaudin was injured in the attack.
The attackers managed to escape after committing the crime.
A large contingent of police reached the spot soon after the attack and started a door-to-door search operation but there was no trace of the attackers.
This is the second terrorist attack in the district after the August 11 high profile kidnapping and murder of Malik Ghulam Habib Mehsud of South Waziristan district who was the elder brother of former K-P IGP Shalahudin Mehsud.
The driver of Malik Ghulam Habib Mehsud was also injured in the attack who later succumbed to his injuries in the hospital.
The recent attack on police inside the main Tank city resulted in widespread panic among the general public.
There has been a surge in terrorism attacks across K-P since the takeover of Kabul by Afghan Taliban.
They released all the prisoners from Afghan jails, including TTP leaders, in order to gain popular support from the general public, by declaring their trial un-Islamic.
This provided not only a much needed morale boost to the TTP terrorists but also enabled them to operate with impunity and regroup in the war-torn country.
