From SRK to Farhan Saeed: Celebrities congratulate India on landing of ‘Chandrayaan 3’ on moon

Many took to Instagram and Twitter to announce the triumphant victory

India’s highly anticipated space mission, Chandrayaan 3, is the third lunar mission of the Indian Space Research Organisation that successfully landed on the moon on August 23. Millions of people around the world lauded India’s efforts at history being made, many taking to Twitter and Instagram to celebrate the vital moment.

Many celebrities from Bollywood took to public platforms to celebrate the impressive feat. Pakistani singer-turned-actor Farhan Saeed was also impressed by the neighbouring country's fine feat. "Congratulations, India, it definitely is a milestone!" he shared on X. "A nation that truly is achieving new milestones one after the other."

Other Pakistani celebrities like Rabia Butt and Ahmed Ali Butt also felt the need to congratulate their neighbors on their Instagram stories.

Amitabh Bachchan was also one of many such celebrities as he recited a small verse dedicated to the moon landing on his hit game show, Kon Banega Crorepati.

The poem read, “Kal shaam ko jab chand niklega na, toh uss chand ki mitti par humare desh ke kadmon ki chaap hogi. Kal humara Chandrayaan 3, apne Maama ke ghar, yaani ke Chanda maama ke ghar pahuchega,” which roughly translates as, “In the evening, tomorrow, when the moon rises, our country’s footprints will be imprinted on the soil of the moon. Tomorrow, the moon of the stories of our childhood will be within reach to our country.”

The veteran Bollywood actor also later shared his pride in India’s triumphs, declaring the nation to have surpassed its third-world status and calling for it to be referred to as a first-world state.

Additionally, Dhamaal actor Riteish Deshmukh excitedly posted a photo of himself sporting an ISRO t-shirt, eagerly awaiting the news of the landing, while Bollywood rapper Badshah celebrated the grand victory in a tweet: “The biggest moment is here, victory is just two steps away from us.”

Anupam Kher, the New Amsterdam actor, also took to Instagram to share a more personal video, while Kareena Kapoor called the triumph a “stellar touchdown.”

Shah Rukh Khan was another fan-favourite who took the time to congratulate the ISRO team for their efforts and hard work, writing, “Congratulations to all the scientists and engineers, the whole team which has made India so proud.”

Kamal Haasan, however, felt it important to acknowledge the journey that India had taken to come this far, penning, “From carrying satellite parts on bicycles to landing on the moon – What a journey it has been! Team ISRO is the pride of the nation. A historic day that will forever be etched in our nation’s spacefaring odyssey. The day is not far when Indians will walk the moon.”

Other celebrities like Sunny Deol referred to the event as a “momentous feat in the History of India’s space exploration,” while Abhishek Bachchan commemorated the occasion as “a moment to remember, an emotion beyond words!”

Hrithik Roshan and Ananya Panday also hopped on the bandwagon. The Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham star shared a sentimental emotion on Twitter as he wrote, “My heart swells with pride a little more today as I witness my people soar high and give their very best,” while the Gehraiyaan actor kept it short and sweet as she captioned an image of the space vessel “India is on the moon!”
