Syed Jibran, the acclaimed actor, recently took his audience on an intriguing journey by sharing a detailed behind-the-scenes look at the mesmerizing transformation he underwent to portray Burqaan, his character in Jinzada. With the help of makeup artist and specialist Razan Yasin's Horrifx team, Jibran provided a fascinating glimpse into the intricate process that turned him into this enigmatic persona.
In a captivating video shared by Horrifx, Jibran walks the audience through each step of his remarkable transformation. The process begins with the application of a skin-coloured mask that entirely covers Jibran's face. The mask is meticulously positioned, with a hole cut out for his face, ensuring a snug fit that also allows him to breathe, talk, and see. Following the mask application, liquid latex is used to seal the mask securely in place. A time-lapse sequence showcases the addition of pointy ears, a key feature of the character.
One of the most challenging steps, according to Jibran, is putting in the lenses. He expresses his strong dislike for this part. "I hate it," says Jibran, his body moving in a way that underscores his disdain toward the step. He highlights the difficulty of inserting bloodshot red lenses into his eyes. Despite the struggles, Jibran manages to successfully place the lenses after a few attempts. His triumph is evident as he exclaims, "Yes!" after overcoming this hurdle.
The makeup process continues as the team works on Jibran's forehead, nose, cheeks, and chin. To ensure a seamless look, his nose is coloured black to prevent the underlying skin tone from showing through. The colour is also applied to the rest of his face. It must be noted that the attention to detail is commendable, as the team proceeds to add blood-stained and filthy teeth that contribute to the character's sinister appearance. Jibran even gets into character by growling during this stage.
A timelapse sequence captures the application of scar wax on the prosthetics, followed by the intricate process of painting. The look gradually takes shape, and Jibran is transformed into Burqaan. The final result is a testament to the skill and artistry of the makeup team. A montage of getting into the all-black, foreboding attire follows, and Jibran poses for the camera as Burqaan.
After fully embodying his character, Jibran takes the audience through the unmasking and removal process. He expresses relief as the teeth are removed, and the mask is carefully peeled away. While the removal process is comparatively quicker than the application, Jibran mentions that preserving the mask for future use can be painful. Despite this, he remarks that the experience is "so worth it." The mask comes off intact. Looking at it, Jibran playfully says, "I can scare my kids now." Despite the time-consuming and intricate nature of the process, the actor says he had a great time playing the role. "I'll actually miss it," he adds.
Jibran's behind-the-scenes glimpse into the transformation process to become Burqaan offers an intriguing insight into the world of makeup artistry and character portrayal. From the initial application of the mask to the meticulous painting and detailing, every step contributes to creating a captivating and otherworldly persona. Jibran's dedication to the role and the talent of the makeup team are both evident in the seamless transformation that brings Burqaan to life.
