KARACHI:

The Sindh High Court has ordered to submit report to trial court within a week on the plea regarding killing of a highly educated youth on the pretext of Karo-Kari in Larkana and throwing the body in canal. The body of the victim has not been recovered so far.

High Court heard a petition on the issue and victim's mother appeared in the court with her son's photo.

Barrister Akhtar Jabbar Sheikh, counsel of the petitioner, stated that neither dead body of the deceased was found nor police took any action. Instead of arresting the murderers, justice was handed over to the Jirga.

The victim's mother wailed saying, "I need justice. Influential person is threatening me and my daughter."

The court sought a progress report from SSP Larkana within a week.

The stand taken in petition was that the youth Ali Ahmed Brohi was abducted on January 27 in Larkana. The deceased was a student and was preparing for CSS exams. Among the kidnappers were accused Khan Muhammad Brohi, Saifullah Brohi, Abdul Aziz, Ramzan Brohi and others.

After killing the deceased, Ali Ahmed Brohi, the body was thrown into Rohtri Canal. A case of kidnapping was registered in Sachal police station, Larkana. The accused Ramzan Brohi has also admitted before the Jirga that he killed Ali Ahmed Brohi and threw the body in the canal.

The brother of the victim said that the Jirga imposed a fine of Rs5 million on the killers. The victim's mother has rejected the offer and demanded to arrest of accused and appealed the court to award death sentenced to her son's killers.
