QUETTA:

Caretaker Balochistan Chief Minister Ali Mardan Domki has made it clear that talks with disgruntled Baloch leaders can only be held as per the policy of the state, saying that the province has been facing a host of issues (from terrorism to kidnappings).

“The law and order is an important issue for my government and maintaining peace is one of the top priorities of it," Domki said while talking to media persons on Monday.

The caretaker chief minister said, “[Maintaining] peace and [ensuring] fair elections are our top priorities," Domki said.

The caretaker CM also addressed a meeting of all administrative secretaries of Balochistan, urging them to play their due role in the development and prosperity of the province.

The newly appointed Balochistan Chief Secretary, Shakeel Qadir Khan, and other senior officers were also present on the occasion.

Domki appreciated the administrative secretaries for playing an important role in strengthening the system and improving governance, urging them to further improve day-to-day government affairs to ensure that elections were held in a fair and transparent manner in Balochistan.

Domki also directed officers to ensure that all secretaries were punctual.

“All of us will move forward according to the rules and regulations and the traditions of Balochistan,” he stated.

On the protest against the merger of Balochistan Secretariat Services (BSS) into Balochistan Civil Service (BCS), Domki said that the grievances of the officers would be addressed soon.

“The government officers are not happy to go on a strike. Their grievances will be addressed,” Domki said, urging the officers to show patience and tolerance in this regard.
