KARACHI:

The Pakistan Air Force Public Relations Department has released a poignant short documentary commemorating the valiant legacy of Pakistan's youngest Nishan-e-Haider recipient, Pilot Officer Rashid Minhas Shaheed, on the occasion of his 52nd martyrdom anniversary.

Born on February 17, 1951, pilot officer Rashid Minhas Shaheed dedicated himself to safeguarding the country's aerial frontiers.

Commissioned into the 51st GDP course of the Pakistan Air Force on March 14, 1971, he was later stationed at Squadron in Maripur [Masroor] for operational conversion training but fate had woven its course of eternal blessings for him.

The indelible tale of Rashid Minhas' sacrifice unfolded on August 20, 1971. On that fateful day, he thwarted the sinister intentions of his instructor pilot, flight lieutenant Mutiur Rehma, who attempted to hijack their T-33 training aircraft with intentions of flying it to India. Rashid Minhas displayed immense fortitude in regaining control of the aircraft.
