PPP alarmed over murder of local leader
Unidentified suspected robbers killed Shaukat Hamad, a local leader of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), during a robbery attempt in Etihad Town.
SSP Kemari, Faizan Ali, stated that the incident appears to involve resistance to street crime.
He mentioned that the victim was sitting outside his house when the robbers attempted to rob him.
However, when he resisted, they opened fire, resulting in his death.
The police collected evidence and bullet shells from the crime scene, while CCTV footage of the incident will be obtained soon.
Suspect arrested
A suspect allegedly involved in the murder of a Pakistan Peoples Party's (PPP) regional official, Amjad Hussain, 40, was arrested in Orangi Town on Sunday. West district police said that on August 17, suspect Anwar Saeed alias Mota, and his three accomplices, Kaleem, Zahid and Munna, had killed Amjad Hussain over a dispute regarding new memberships in the party. Hussain had received 10 bullets in the attack. Police said that the victim was a PPP candidate in the local government elections.
The arrested suspect confessed before the investigation officer about his involvement in the killing of the PPP candidate. Reportedly, Mota had changed long-time political affiliation four years ago to join PPP. Karachi Police Chief Javed Alam Odhu has announced Rs100,000 and a certificate of appreciation for the police officers who arrested the murder suspect.
Attacks denounced
PPP Karachi General Secretary of Pakistan People's Party (PPP) Sindh chapter Senator Waqar Mehdi and President PPP Karachi Division Saeed Ghani have demanded the arrest of killers, involved in the murders of two local PPP workers in the last four days.
