Four colleges left without staff

Four government colleges that were separated from the Gujrat University and came under the supervision of the Punjab Higher Education Department four months ago are still without staff.

Only the principals, security guards, clerks, Naib Qasids and gardeners have been appointed in the Government Marghzar College for Women, Fatima Jinnah College for Women, Science College and Railway Road Girls College.

Around 150 professors and other staff members appointed by the university will return to it after the conclusion of the ongoing session of the Associate Degree Programme (ADP) on September 7.

The situation will leave the educational future of about 6,000 students of the four colleges in jeopardy.

The teachers who had been sent on an attachment basis by the colleges deputy director have already been transferred back to Govt Zamindar College. A teacher said the staff members posted in the colleges had also got a high court decision in their favour.
