KURIANWALA:

Police arrested the widow of the man killed by alleged robbers in Nishatabad less than a week ago on suspicion of her having colluded with the suspected murderers.

Police alleged that the woman, along with her acquaintances, had made a plan to make the incident look like a robbery-cum-murder incident.

Late Waqas Ahmed had married the suspect two months ago.

Waqas Ahmed, son of Muhammad Azam, a resident of Sargodha, had been on his way home with his wife, Aqsa Bibi, from the house of his in-laws in Ghulam Mohammadabad on the night of August 13. When they had been going past Bhattonwala two strangers had intercepted them.

They had robbed the couple of cash, a mobile phone and five tolas of jewelry. After committing the robbery they had shot Waqas dead.

Police had filed a murder-cum-robbery case and handed over the body of the victim to his family members after the postmortem examination.

The City Police Officer, Usman Akram Gondal, had formed teams headed by the SP of Madina Town Division, Hafiz Kamran Asghar, the SHO of Nishatabad, Mian Arsalan Bari, the In Charge of Investigation, Inspector Irfan Ashraf, and ASI Farooq Nazir who worked hard day and night for four days and arrested two suspects, Owais and Shan Ali, residents of Kokianwala.

Police had also claimed recovery of stolen jewelry and a pistol from the possession of the suspects.

Police said that during investigation, suspect Owais had allegedly said that he wanted to marry Aqsa Bibi.

However, Aqsa's family had her married to Waqas two months ago.

Police claimed that the suspect had told them that he and Aqsa had made a plan to kill Waqas on the night of August 13.

The incident of robbery had been stage-managed, police said.

Based on the statement of the suspect, police arrested the widow of Waqas.

The SP of Madina Town, Hafiz Kamran Asghar, said that considering the seriousness of the incident, police officers had formed teams who obtained the record of the deceased's mobile phone using modern technology.

After getting suspicious, the police reached the suspects and also recovered stolen jewelry and the “murder weapon”.
