Six held over girl’s death in celebratory firing

CCPO had taken notice of the incident and sought report

At least six suspects involved in death of two minor children due to celebratory firing on the Independence Day have been arrested.

The victim, Hamda along with her father Zeeshan, a Sanat Nagar resident, had reached Azadi Chowk to watch fireworks on the occasion of the Independence Day. When they were on way back to home, a strey bullet hit the victim Hamda in Badami Bagh police limits. She received serious bullet injury and was moved to hospital for treatment but could not survive and died.

The CCPO had taken notice of the incident and sought report from SP City.

In the other incident, a seven year old Zain was hit by a stray bullet in Shahdara Town. She succumbed to her bullet wound died on way to hospital.

DIG Investigations Imran Kishwar said they have arrested six suspects involved in both incidents.

The suspect was arrested in Shahdara Town incidents has been identified as Fawad Tariq, Afzal alias Ajli and Jahangir.

The suspects are history sheeters involved in murder and attempted murder. Police also recovered Pistol, push riffle and bullets.
