ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani commended the outstanding contribution to the earthquake and flood relief efforts by Turkey and by Ambassador Rauf Engin Soysal, the UN special envoy for assistance to Pakistan.
The prime minister expressed his appreciation for the personal efforts of Ambassador Soysal when he paid a farewell call to Gilani before taking up his new position as Turkey’s ambassador to the Council of Europe.
Gilani also conveyed his gratitude for the visit of the UN secretary-general and Turkey Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan to Pakistan after the floods in 2010.
