LAHORE:

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has strongly denounced the stringent isolation measures imposed on former prime minister Imran Khan as a consequence of a verdict which it perceives as biased.

During a core committee meeting held on Tuesday, the PTI also expressed its objection to the denial of medical assistance to the PTI chairman, presently locked up in Attock Jail due to a contentious court ruling.

Citing an infringement on the rights of lawyers and family members to meet with the former premier, the party decried these restrictions as a flagrant form of political retribution that transgresses fundamental human rights.

The PTI's core committee underscored the disconcerting narrative emerging from what it deemed a controversial trial, characterising the progression from sentencing to solitary confinement as a distressing testament to an era of inhumane treatment.

The PTI contended that this orchestrated sequence of events seeks to undermine the resolve of Imran, employing a strategy that deprives him of even the most elementary facilities as outlined in the prison regulations. Notably, the party emphasised that Imran's cell was off-limits to all individuals, including prison staff, effectively severing any contact or communication with him.

The deliberate delay in addressing his bail plea, despite the trial proceeding on a daily basis, has also been characterised by the PTI as an embodiment of repression and authoritarianism.

A steadfast plea was reiterated by the party, urging the intervention of the Supreme Court to address the grievous breach of fundamental rights, a plight faced by the nation's revered figure – a former prime minister and the leader of the country's largest political entity.

The PTI's core committee stressed the indispensability of safeguarding Imran’s rights as mandated by the law, thereby ensuring his access to medical professionals, legal representation, and all other legally warranted privileges.
