The 76th Independence Day reverberated with exuberance and patriotism throughout Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P), as bustling marketplaces, official edifices, and private abodes donned vibrant buntings and fluttering national flags to commemorate the occasion on Monday.
The spirited day in Peshawar dawned with a resounding 21-gun salute at Captain Karnal Sher Khan Shaheed Stadium. Mosques echoed with special prayers, beseeching for the nation’s progress, prosperity, and eternal serenity for the valiant martyrs of the Pakistan Movement.
The celebrations crescendoed at the Governor House in Peshawar, where an aweinspiring flag hoisting ceremony unfolded.
Among the attendees were former ministers, dignitaries, politicians, and individuals from diverse walks of life.
The emblematic tricolor was unfurled by Governor K-P, Haji Ghulam Ali, accompanied by the resonating chords of the national anthem. The momentous occasion was punctuated by a salute from the police guard.

A spirited declamation contest held at private schools spotlighted the pivotal role of Quaid e Azam in the Pakistan Movement.

The celebration’s fervor radiated from Mardan, Swabi, Charsadda to Nowshera, where Independence Day festivities resonated with grandeur.
Pakhtunkhwa House Mardan stood as a focal point of celebration, attracting an assembly comprising Commissioner Mardan Yousaf Rahim, Regional Police Officer Muhammad Sulaiman, and Deputy Commissioner Mardan Captain Retired Abdul Rahman, among other luminaries.
In alignment with the commissioner’s visionary approach, the talents of six declamation competition winners from the Reading Club were showcased during this special gathering.
Deputy Commissioner Abdul Rehman, in a heart-felt address, lauded the indomitable spirit of the Pakistani nation, which persevered through adversity and conquered every challenge.
He highlighted Mardan’s notable role in aiding the earthquake-stricken Turkey, showcasing the city’s profound compassion.
Mayor Mardan Himayatullah Mayar emphasized the legacy of sacrifice, recounting how the ancestors valiantly battled British colonial rule.
He noted that although freedom is a cherished blessing, the significance of its preservation was sometimes overlooked, leading to challenges. The mayor ardently advocated for a united national spirit that upholds responsibility to ensure a bright future.
