Horse dances steal Independence Day shows

Vibrant ‘luddy’ dance troupes dazzle city as part of cultural extravaganza

Rawalpindi came alive with vibrant celebrations on Independence Day as it showcased the rich cultural heritage of the Pothohar region through captivating Horse and Luddy dance performances.

The festivities, organised by the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) drew the attention of citizens throughout the area.

At the Rawalpindi Development Authority's parking area, trained horses demonstrated their impressive skills to the rhythm of the music. Accompanied by skilled trainers, the horses flawlessly executed intricate dance moves in response to specific hand signals, creating a mesmerizing spectacle. Meanwhile, Luddy dance groups adorned in colorful attire added to the festive atmosphere by performing to the beats of dhol bajas and shehnai, receiving immense appreciation from the enthusiastic crowd.

The celebrations took place at prominent locations including Murir Chowk, RDA Building, Liaquat Bagh, and Chandni Chowk, where a large gathering of citizens gathered to witness and relish the Horse and Luddy dance performances.

The RDA and PHA stood out among institutions by orchestrating an exceptional Independence Day celebration, marked by its distinctiveness and vibrancy.

The RDA organised a series of captivating events, including the impressive Horse dance, a stirring army band presentation, and the lively Luddy dance, all of which unfolded across four key points along Murree Road.

Adding to the visual delight, a breathtaking fireworks display emanated from the RDA building. Ensuring the comfort of attendees, the RDA established reception stations along Murree Road, offering cold water bottles and distributing national flags to citizens.

PHA's contribution to the celebrations included the enthralling Lucky Irani Circus at Liaquat Bagh, captivating the interests of citizens who revelled in the spectacle. PHA Director General Ahmed Hasan Ranjha distributed national flags to citizens and facilitated stalls along Murree Road where citizens received plants for planting.

Supervising the festivities were Rawalpindi Commissioner Liaquat Ali Chatha and Deputy Commissioner Waqar Hasan Cheema. Former senator Chaudhry Tanveer Khan and his sons, Barrister Daniyal Chaudhry and Osama Chaudhry, held a spectacular fireworks showcase at Daniyal Palace at Chaklala Scheme 3.

Further igniting the jubilation, the business community at Fawara Chowk in Raja Bazar and PML-N leader Nasir Butt at Haji House in Dhok Rata hosted fireworks displays that drew cheers and admiration from the sizable crowd. The Independence Day celebrations in Rawalpindi not only honored the nation's freedom but also showcased the city's spirit and cultural vibrancy.
