The second consultative meeting between Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah and the Leader of the Opposition in the now-dissolved Sindh Assembly Rana Ansar yielded no results as they failed to reach a consensus on the caretaker chief minister, Express News reported.

The meeting took place in Karachi on Sunday during which the names for the caretaker chief minister were presented by both. The discussion focused on consulting party leadership regarding the proposed names for the position. After consultations with their respective party leaderships, both sides will convene for another meeting.

Speaking to the media after the meeting, Ansar stated that this was the second round of consultations on the appointment of a caretaker chief minister. She mentioned that due to the multitude of names, more time is needed for deliberations.

She remarked that several names have been proposed by CM Shah, which will be presented before the senior leadership of the party for consideration. Decisions will be made following these consultations, she added.

Ansar pointed out that while there is a possibility of consensus on one of the suggested names, in case an agreement is not reached by Monday, the matter will be referred to the parliamentary committee.

PPP leader Nasir Hussain Shah, while talking to the media, said that numerous names have been put forward for the high-profile position but consensus has not been reached yet.

He said that another meeting will be held on Monday, and until then, there's time for consultations, aiming to reach a consensus on a suitable name.

The names circulating within the media sphere for the caretaker CM in Sindh, include Justice (retd) Maqbool Baqar, former chief secretaries Mumtaz Ali Shah and Siddique Memon, former bureaucrats Shoaib Siddiqui and Younus Dagha.
