OKARA:

Three people including a man and his daughter were killed and five others critically injured in separate traffic incidents on Saturday.

The first incident occurred near Faisalabad Road in Khangranwala, where a rickshaw was struck by a car, leading to the immediate death of the rickshaw driver.

One other individual sustained injuries in the collision. The scene was marked by chaos and distress as emergency response teams rushed to provide aid.

Tragedy struck again close to Dipalpur Road, near South City Hospital, when a speeding truck collided with a motorcycle. The impact claimed the lives of a young man, Zahid and his daughter Amina. Zahid's wife, Noreen, survived the crash but sustained serious injuries.

Rescue teams quickly arrived at the scene and transported Noreen to the hospital, where medical professionals are now working tirelessly to save her life.

Meanwhile, the truck driver managed to flee the scene, leaving behind a trail of devastation.

DSP Traffic Abid Sagheer attributed the tragedy to excessive speed, underscoring the dire consequences of such reckless behaviour on the road. Authorities have taken custody of the involved vehicle and have launched a search for the truck driver who absconded from the scene.

In the third unfortunate incident, Aamir, his wife Mudassar Bibi, and their daughter Ayesha were riding a motorcycle near the hazardous Ada Sukhpur turn when a high-speed automobile collided with their two-wheeler. The collision left all three family members critically injured. The injured were transferred to the hospital for urgent care.

Local law enforcement agencies have initiated thorough investigations into all three accidents to ascertain the causes and factors that led to these tragic events.

The incidents serve as stark reminders of the urgent need for improved road safety measures and responsible driving practices.

Community members are grappling with grief and raising their voices to call for increased awareness and more stringent enforcement of traffic regulations.

As the investigations unfold, families of the victims, witnesses and concerned citizens await answers while hoping that the outcomes of these incidents will serve as catalysts for positive change on the roads.
