In a separate incident, man loses his life while trying to save his drowning son

A woman was allegedly shot dead by her in-laws over a domestic dispute in Kawwan village in the limits of Hassanabdal police station.

Police sources said Najma Alam married Sharafat Khan some 15 years ago and has no children due to which relations between the woman and her in-laws were sour. On Friday, her husband along with his brother Shafqat Khan and father Wairs Khan killed her after an exchange of harsh words. The suspects managed to escape from the scene after the bloodshed. T

The body of the victim was shifted to the tehsil headquarters hospital for autopsy. Meanwhile, a speedy dumper recklessly driven by an unknown driver ran over a motorcyclist on Hazara Road in the limits of the same police station.

Police sources said 20-year-old Abu Bakar was travelling to Haripur when the dumper crushed him to death while the dumper driver managed to escape from the spot. The police registered two separate cases and launched further investigation.

In a separate incident, a man lost his life while trying to save his son from drowning in River Haro near Hassanabdal on Friday.

According to the rescue and hospital sources, Mehtab Qureshi along with his 12-year-old son went to River Haro for bathing but his son went into deep water. Seeing his son in distress, his father jumps into the water and made efforts to bring him from the deep waters, but he drowned.

Later, his body was fished out by local volunteers and it was shifted to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Hassanabdal. Police are investigating the case.
